At My Choice Support Network, we offer person-centred group activities five days a week, from 10 am to 4 pm, in a home-like environment tailored to our clients' complex needs. Core Supports under the NDIS are designed to assist you with everyday activities, address your current disability-related needs, and support you in working towards your goals.
Core Supports under the NDIS are designed to assist you with everyday activities, address your current disability-related needs, and support you in working towards your goals. This funding category is the most flexible, allowing you to utilise your budget across four key support categories. While flexibility is a hallmark of Core Supports, there are instances, particularly in transport funding, where the use of funds may be more restricted.
The four support categories covered under Core Supports include Assistance with Daily Life, Consumables, Assistance with Social & Community Participation, and Transport. Assistance with Daily Life encompasses support for everyday needs such as household cleaning and yard maintenance.
Consumables cover items you may need daily, such as continence products or low-cost assistive technology. Assistance with Social & Community Participation enables engagement in social and community activities, with support workers available to assist. Transport support facilitates travel for work or other activities aligned with your plan goals.
Services under Core Supports are varied, aiming to assist individuals in activities of daily living, including grocery shopping, personal care, meal preparation, finding accommodation, and providing transportation for appointments and social gatherings. The flexibility of these services allows for tailored support based on individual needs and goals, empowering individuals to live more independently and actively participate in their communities.
Capacity building supports
Capacity Building Supports under the NDIS focus on enhancing social and community engagement while building individuals' independence through the development of basic life skills.
These services offer transportation and assistance during community events and teach essential skills like chores and meal preparation. They also provide training on using public transport for commuting to work or school. The goal of Capacity Building Supports is to equip individuals with the skills and confidence to pursue their goals and participate more actively in their communities.
Unlike the Core Supports budget, which offers flexibility in spending, the Capacity Building Supports budget is more specific. It cannot be moved from one support category to another and must be used to purchase approved individual supports within the Capacity Building category. These supports cover a wide range of areas including Support Coordination, Improved Living Arrangements, Increased Social & Community Participation, Finding & Keeping a Job, Improved Relationships, Improved Health & Wellbeing, Improved Learning, Improved Life Choices, and Improved Daily Living.
